conquest.eth 2nd alpha to be launched December 7th!

We are excited to announce the new alpha version of “conquest.eth” to be launched on December 7th!

Upcoming alpha and prizes

Similar to the previous alpha launched back in May, there will be plenty of prizes to grab! The new version will feature new game mechanics, and top players will have plenty of opportunities to get rewards. We will be giving up to 2,000$ worth of prize distributed to the best players. More details to come soon!

Prizes will be distributed in the form of Etherplay tokens when the game launches next year. This will bring the total to 3,000$ if we include the amount of token given to players in the previous alpha.

We are also looking for sponsors. Reach out to us if you are interested in helping us promote the alpha. For the previous alpha, our friend at Xaya contributed 3000 WCHI which was distributed to random planets. This resulted in 2 things:

- provided an interesting gameplay twist where players who had no chance of being at the top could get some prizes by focusing on capturing a sponsored planet.

- added an opportunity for the sponsor to feature their project logo.

New Game Mechanisms

While the core game loop has been successfully tested in the first alpha, here are the improvements we have made:

- The graphics and performance have improved significantly.

- The game now relies on thegraph.com nodes. While players can run them, we do not expect them to do so. We plan to revisit our dependence on this later.

- We introduced the concept of gift and public alliances where the latter can send spaceships freely to each other.

- We added an agent service so your fleet can be resolved while you sleep :) This should improve the game experience greatly.

Joining the Defi Alliance

As explained on Conquest’s devlog, we decided to look for a potential funding strategy. We participated to events: ETHCC 2021 in Paris and ETHVC. We have been approached by various investment funds. We are still exploring what makes sense for us.

This has been an exciting collaboration. It is such an amazing time in web3 and decentralised gaming!
